This island was formed when the hull of the sunken Schooner Nancy created an obstruction in the Nottawasaga River, thereby causing the currents to deposit silt. The Nancy was originally a private vessel that was sequestered by the British in the War of 1812. A museum containing artifacts of the American-British battle is situated on the island, and the ear pleasing ‘Jazz in the Park’ is held there each summer in July.
